Ms. Pinky Aquino Abellada, sister of Sen. Noynoy Aquino will be the guest of honor and speaker in this year's celebration of Women's Day in Dipolog City. She has confirmed the invitation sent by the LCW to grace this very important occasion
Preparations are now underway for the celebration of Women's Month . The various activities are being coordinated by Ms. Ninet Maningo of the City Social Welfare Office with the support of the LCW coordinators from the twenty-one barangays and their respective barangay captains and council members.
An LCW meeting was held last Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Dipolog Women's Center in Minaog attended by Ms. Maningo. The agenda included the finalization of plans for the celebration of Women's Month and the specific activities for March 8, 2010.
The traditional parade and program will start at 4:00 P.M. on March 8 around the main streets of Dipolog. The program will follow shortly after the parade at the Dipolog Boulevard. The guest of honor, Ms. Pinky Aquino Abellada will address the women during a brief opening program after the welcome message of Mayor Evelyn T. Uy.
The opening program will be followed by the competitions in ballroom dancing, "videoke" singing contest and folk dance contest. The participants will come from the different barangay chapters of the LCW. Socials and fellowship will cap the activities for the day.
As is usually done on Women's Day, the LCW chapters will put up a Tiangge and Food Court in the boulevard. This is open to all who may be interested to buy the products of the women and help them advance their entrepreneurial skills and promote economic empowerment of the women.
On March 9 there will be a Medical and Dental Outreach at Plaza Magsaysay for women, parlor games and various skills demonstration activities.
Other activities lined up for the month of March are the following: Art through Hand Sewing Workshop which will be facilitated by the women artists of T'g Libon Ini; food processing seminar/workshops at LSDEC coordinated by LCW; and many other activities to be announced in the next few days.
