Dipolog City - Contender for the Presidential Award for being a Child Friendly City for the year 2009 - Regional Level

The city government of Dipolog recognizes the importance of children in the community. Due to its effective implementation of different programs and services for the benefit of the youth and other vulnerable sectors of society, Dipolog City has been chosen as one of the contenders for the Presidential Award as a Child Friendly City for the year 2009 - Regional Level.

Among the categories of the Child Friendly Competition which were fully accomplished by Dipolog City are the ff:

City Level:

Service delivery which includes health and nutrition, education and special protection of children
Institution building which includes minutes of meetings of local committees / boards and percentage of functional Barangay Council for Protection of Children ( BCPC ) and the CCPC.

Barangay Level:

Active participation of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children with the support of various NGOs who are partners of the LGU
Barangay Health and Nutrition services
Playground area for children
Updated and detailed community spot map
Barangay Information and Reading Center

The competition is headed by the regional Department of Social Welfare and Development, supported by the Department of Justice and Commission on Human Rights, Department of Interior and Local Government, and Department of labor.

OISCA OFFICIALS AND STUDENTS VISITS DIPOLOG ONCE AGAIN

Local officials of the City Government of Dipolog headed by City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy welcomed OISCA Japanese visitors who arrived here in our city last August 16, 2010, .
The 22-man Japanese delegation composed of OISCA officials and students from universities and secondary schools in Japan comprise the Childrens Forest Camp 2010 who came here to Dipolog to conduct Goodwill Mission visit and tree and mangroove planting activities. Read More..

AIP & 20% DEVELOPMENT PLAN BUDGET ALLOCATION INCREASED

The City Development Council (CDC) during its meeting held last August 5, 2010, has earmarked an estimated ten percent (10%) budget increase in its annual investment plan (AIP), and twenty point seventy eight percent (20.78%) increase for the 20% Development Plan for the budget year 2011. Engineer Albert Alimpulos, City Planning and Development Officer said, "the funds would be used to improve/ cater to the local and national priority projects and programs of the three (3) major sectoral groups involved namely: General Public Services, Social Services, and Economic Services, pursuant to the DILG-DBM joint circular No. 1 series of 2005, and as mandated by R.A. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991."
