The city government of Dipolog recognizes the importance of children in the community. Due to its effective implementation of different programs and services for the benefit of the youth and other vulnerable sectors of society, Dipolog City has been chosen as one of the contenders for the Presidential Award as a Child Friendly City for the year 2009 - Regional Level.
City Level:
- Service delivery which includes health and nutrition, education and special protection of children
- Institution building which includes minutes of meetings of local committees / boards and percentage of functional Barangay Council for Protection of Children ( BCPC ) and the CCPC.
Barangay Level:
- Active participation of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children with the support of various NGOs who are partners of the LGU
- Barangay Health and Nutrition services
- Playground area for children
- Updated and detailed community spot map
- Barangay Information and Reading Center
The competition is headed by the regional Department of Social Welfare and Development, supported by the Department of Justice and Commission on Human Rights, Department of Interior and Local Government, and Department of labor.
